UPDATE: Water conservation still needed for Pahiatua water

Council would like to advise that it has completed preliminary checks on the Pahiatua water bore and can now confirm that the bore is operating.  The pump is operating effectively, however, the Council is limiting the flow from the bore, in order to allow the water level within the well to recover.

As we are still operating on a limited supply, Council needs the community to continue to save water.

The hosing ban & water conservation measures will remain in place until further notice.

Residents are encouraged to contact the Council Service Centres if they become aware of any water leaks.

Council would also like to thank the residents of Pahiatua for their quick response and support in this matter.

Total hosing ban and urgent water conservation needed in Pahiatua

Council would like to advise that precautionary measures are being taken for the Pahiatua bore to check the integrity of the bore and its components, following the recent earthquakes.

The bore will be out of commission until all checks have been completed and there is no damage reported.  In the interim, all town water will be sourced from the back-up river supply and this has been chlorinated.

As we are now operating on a single supply, Council needs the community to save water.

A total hosing ban & water conservation need to come into effect immediately.

Council anticipates that they will be able to update residents later today.

Council will also check all other facilities around the district, including reservoirs and major structures to ensure they are intact. Residents are encouraged to contact the Council Service Centres if they become aware of any water leaks.
