Council contenders put their best feet forward

25 people have thrown their hats in the ring as candidates in the upcoming Tararua District council elections.


When the deadline for nominations passed at midday today there were:

  • 5 nominations for Mayor
  • 14 nominations for Councillor
  • 11 nominations for community boards

Electoral Officer, Sandy Lowe says she is pleased with the level of interest from the community. 

Comparisons from the 2013 elections include:

  • 2 nominations for Mayor
  • 15 nominations for Councillors
  • 15 nominations for community boards
