GoShift simplifies building consent process

The building consent process has just become easier, thanks to GoShift – a streamlined online application service adopted by Tararua District Council.

GoShift is a partnership between Central Government (Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment) and Local Government (local councils), and was designed to improve performance, consistency and service delivery across the building consent system.

Earlier this year, Tararua District Council launched GoShift and has been trialling it as a pilot scheme.

Russell Palmer, Tararua District Council Team Leader of Building Services, says the trial has gone well and feedback has been positive.

"I’ve heard nothing negative about it. The trial was very successful and our GoShift online portal is now open to anyone who wants to submit a building consent application. It’s a different method of delivery, everything is done online electronically, but it’s simple and easy to use. It allows people to track their applications and makes the whole process much easier for everyone."

Tararua District Council is one of more than 20 councils throughout the country who are now signed up with GoShift, which provides a streamlined process for builders, developers, and homeowners alike.
