Members of the public are cordially invited to attend the following commemorative services throughout Tararua on ANZAC Day, Tuesday, 25 April 2017.
A Dawn Service will be held at the Cenotaph following the fall-in at 5:45am.
A Civic Service will be held at 9:00am at the Cenotaph, following the fall-in at 8:30am at Knox Church. The Parade leaves Knox Church, corner of High Street and Swinburn Street to march to the Domain for the laying of the wreaths.
The service will be held at the Cenotaph in rain or shine.
A service at the Cenotaph (by the Weber School) will commence at 10:30am.
A service at the Cenotaph in Pongaroa will commence at 12noon.
Those wishing to join RSA members in the March to the Cenotaph are requested to assemble at the Pongaroa Hotel by 11:45am.
A bus will depart from the Dannevirke Cenotaph at 9:45am to travel to Pongaroa. To use this service, please phone 374 8310.
A service at the Cenotaph in Wimbledon will commence at 9:00am.
A service at the Cenotaph in Upper Norsewood will commence at 10:30am. If the weather is unfavourable, the service will be held at the church, followed by lunch.
A bus will depart from the Dannevirke Cenotaph at 10:00am to travel to Norsewood. To use this service, please phone 374 0760.
A service at the Church of the Epiphany will commence at 12noon.
A service at the Cenotaph will commence at 12:25pm outside the Makotuku Public Hall.
A service at the Whetukura Cenotaph will commence at 12:50pm.
A service will be held in the Eketahuna Community Centre commencing at 10:00am.
Returned Servicemen, Servicewomen, and members of other organisations participating in the commemoration are requested to assemble at the Community Centre at 9:45am.
A wreath laying ceremony will be held at the War Memorial following the service. A plate would be appreciated for morning tea following the service.
A Dawn Service will be held at the Cenotaph in the Pahiatua Town Square commencing at 6:00am.
Those wishing to join RSA members in the march to the Cenotaph, including wreath bearers, are requested to assemble at the Tararua Club by 5:35am.
A service will also be held at the Servicemen Section of the Mangatainoka Cemetery at 7:30am.
A service at the Hamua Hall on SH2 will commence at 9:00am. Morning tea will be served at the conclusion of the service.
A service will be held at the ANZAC Memorial Bridge on SH2 commencing at 2:00pm. Parking at Miller Reserve, there is a walkway to the bridge. An afternoon tea will be held following the service at Pukaha Mount Bruce Wildlife Centre ($5.00 per person).
The Dawn Parade will be held in Fountaine Square at 6:30am.
The RSA Service will commence at 9:00am at the Servicemen’s Cemetery.
The Civic Service will commence at 10:00am at the Cenotaph in Fountaine Square. The Civic Service will be held in the Woodville Community Centre if the weather is unfavourable.
Morning tea will be served at the Woodville Community Centre following the service.
Council Services on ANZAC Day
All Council Service Centres will be closed on ANZAC Day and will return to normal operating hours on Wednesday, 26 April 2017.
For emergency assistance involving Council services during this time, please call the normal office telephone number; this will connect you to our after-hours service, which is available 24 hours a day.
Tararua District Libraries
All community libraries will be closed on ANZAC Day and will return to normal operating hours on Wednesday, 26 April 2017.
To renew a library book, please phone your local library during normal working days and hours, your call will be diverted to a library that can assist you.
Tararua i-SITE Visitor Information Centre: Woodville
The i-SITE services remain unchanged and normal operating hours apply.
Collection days will remain unchanged, though collection for Dannevirke may occur slightly later than normal.
Landfills and Transfer Stations
Dannevirke Transfer Station and Pahiatua Recycling Centre will open at 1:00pm. Normal operating hours otherwise apply.
For assistance with lost, found or roaming dogs, please contact us on the normal Council phone numbers. All impounded dogs will be held in Dannevirke. If your dog is impounded while we are closed, they can be released after normal operating hours resume on Wednesday, 26 April 2017. Payment for collection will need to be made at a Council Service Centre prior to collecting your dog, phone 06 374 4080.
