Dannevirke High School

Dannevirke High School (DHS) has been serving the Dannevirke community for 114 years. The school prides itself on its great academic results (2016 fifth in New Zealand for Decile 4 schools), sporting achievements against schools much larger than DHS, as well as the cultural integration of all cultures within the wider school operations. All students are welcomed at DHS and the Whanau system allows for diversity to be accommodated and is actively encouraged.

A very wide range of subjects are on offer. Subjects that lead to full University Entrance, as well as other programmes that will lead to a very wide range of vocational pathways are available to all students. The timetable is flexible and allows for individual student needs to be catered for. Students with Learning Support needs are catered for through the Mead Centre as well as directly in classrooms.

The school values of Respect, Responsibility and Accountability come to life within the Whanau system, where caring and resilience is at the top of the list. The school also operates within the guidelines of Restorative Practices and the Positive Behaviour for Learning models.

School motto:

Palma Non Sine Pulvere

The school can offer:

  • A caring, supportive culture
  • A wide variety of subjects and pathways
  • The opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sport
  • An opportunity to be an individual within the wider expectations of a supportive community
