The Dannevirke Kindergarten Association believes that quality learning opportunities for children are best achieved through:Individualised learning programmes developed from observations and through the provision of play-based, resource based, child initiated environments, following the principles of Te Whaariki.

  • Teaching Staff who hold Diploma Teaching ECE, equivalency or higher qualifications.
  • Kindergarten programmes which reflect the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the dual heritage of Aotearoa.
  • Kindergarten environments, which acknowledge, recognise and respect the importance of other cultures and beliefs.
  • A partnership between parents/whanau, teachers and the Association. 
  • A safe and nurturing environment.
  • A strong and effective transition programme from home to kindergarten and then kindergarten to school.

To be the first choice provider of high quality early childhood education in Dannevirke and districts.

Statement of strategic intent:

To provide the highest quality early childhood education to Dannevirke and Districts that is accessible, affordable and appropriate to the changing needs of the 21st Century. This will be achieved by consultation and identification of community and cultural needs by a strong organisation that shows diversity, growth and innovation.
