How do I find what I am looking for?
You can use the Library catalogue to locate items kept at any of our branches. You can also view the reading lists (RL) of what has been ordered or added to the collection recently.
To search for an item you do not have to be logged in, however logging in does give you more options.
Searching tip: our catalogue offers keyword searching (like Google). Avoid using "A, The, Of, I" and try using author name, book title or a mixture of both.
To log in click on the link below, input your user name (library membership number B zero zero etc) and the password you have set.

Important Password Information
If you can't remember or don't have a password, enter your user name, leave password field blank, and click on the 'Forgotten Your Password' link. Our system will immediately email you your existing password or a temporary password to get started with. This will only work if the library holds your current email address.
Passwords are valid for four months. If you update your password, it must be between 7 to 13 characters long, and contain no symbols. New passwords will not work with our ebook site until after 10am the next working day.
What can you do when logged in?
Reserve items - If you want an item from another branch of our library, or it's out on loan and you want to be next to have it, then you can reserve it. To reserve, first search for your item, then tick the box next to the item, click on reserve, then reserve again. Reserves cost $1 per item, payable on collection.

You can access the library databases from the catalogue also. To use these you will need a valid Library card.
Do you have e-Books?
Library members can download our e-Books to your personal computer or electronic device (excluding Kindle). Click here for more information.

What can I do if you don't have the item I need?
If you want an item that the Tararua District Library does not have in any of our branches, then we can interloan it from another library, on your behalf. This incurs a fee to cover postage. Email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
How long will my interloan take?
This does vary; the item may not be immediately available at other libraries, or we may need to approach more than one library.
How do I request an interloan?
You can place an interloan request by contacting your library branch or email us email@example.com
What happens once my item arrives?
We will notify you when the library receives the item. Applicable charges not already paid will be added to your library record. The lending library determines the issue period and any applicable use restrictions. All material is subject to recall by the owning institution at any time. Renewals may be available on request; contact library staff for more information. Interloans must be returned to the library from which they were collected with all accompanying jackets, forms or papers. Charges will be applied for lost or damaged materials.
