Council's Planning Department is here to help promote sustainable management of the environment and to help ensure Tararua District remains a pleasant place for people to live, work and play.
The Planning Department looks after resource consents and the preparation and monitoring of the District Plan. Provision of advice is a major component of these activities.
If you have any questions regarding subdivisions, land use consents, zoning, District Plan etc, our Frequently Asked Questions is a good place to start. If you have any further queries in relation to planning activities, the Planning Department is here to help you.
If you are undertaking any building, project or activity that may require consent or licence from Council under legislation or any bylaw, please check with Council prior to beginning. The cost of obtaining a consent or licence prior to beginning your activity is often far less expensive than the cost you will pay if Council has to undertake corrective action to obtain compliance.
