 Tararua District Council employs two Animal Control Officers, one in based in Dannevirke, and one based in Pahiatua.
They operate Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with an after hours service to cover weekends and public holidays, as well as to provide back up when necessary.
The two ACO’s are also General Inspectors, covering a wide range of duties, these include:
- Dairy Stock Crossings
- Abandoned Vehicles
- Over Hanging Vegetation
- Skateboards and Bicycles in the main shopping streets
- Urban Open Fire permits
- Noise
Dead animals on the road or footpath are not the responsibility of Animal Control, neither are cats - dead or alive.
