Proposed District Plan

The Council has notified its Proposed District Plan. Section 79 of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) requires the Council to review its District Plan every 10 years. The Council’s current District Plan became operative on 1 March 1998. In accordance with Section 79 of the RMA, a comprehensive review of the current District Plan has been undertaken by the Council. This process included the undertaking of public consultation and consideration of issues arising from the administration of the District Plan. The main resource management issues of significance considered in this review related to biodiversity, energy conservation, landscape protection, signs and amenity values, industrial land availability and coastal development. Minor changes to the District Plan provisions due to changes in legislation since the District Plan became operative are also being proposed.

The Proposed District Plan may be viewed below, or a CD copy is available from the Council’s service centres. The Tararua District Council Hearing Committee has released the decisions on the submissions and further submissions to the Proposed Tararua District Plan.

There are 10 different reports about specific topics that have been grouped together into one document for ease of download.
