Bringing visitors to Tararua District directly supports local businesses, with the potential that some of these visitors becoming residents. Current annual spending in Tararua District is $52m according to Tourism New Zealand.

With only 550 visitor beds in the district, we face challenges around capacity for visitors. This has been a key reason behind the successful strategy in recent years to attract domestic visitors with motorhomes.

We promote Tararua District at the Covi Motorhome Caravan & Outdoor Supershow. And in 2019 we attended the Motorhome Caravan & Leisure Show in Hamilton.  Both events attract thousands of enthusiasts.  Tararua has three motorhome friendly towns.
