Unregistered dog owners urged to avoid fines

If your dog is not currently wearing a red tag, then it is deemed to be unregistered. All dogs should have been registered by 1 August, however, Council always gives dog owners until the end of August to reregister their dogs before any infringement fines are imposed. Council is urging dog owners who have still not re-registered their dog to do so as soon as possible.

Reminder letters will be sent out this week to those who have not yet registered with instructions on how to proceed. If required, Animal Control will start following up on unregistered dogs, including site visits once lockdown conditions have been lifted.

Council is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding Animal Control. You can get in touch with the Council team by emailing to info@tararuadc.govt.nz or phoning 06 374 4080 or 06 376 0110.
