Tararua District Council is no longer responsible for managing rural fire within the Tararua District.
Effective from 1 July 2017, the powers to require fire hazards to be removed or destroyed on land in urban and rural areas will transfer from Council to Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ).
Members of the public are able to let FENZ know about concerns they have about a potential fire hazard on land in their community using an online form or calling their 0800 number. This information can be found here: https://fireandemergency.nz/at-home/overgrown-sections/
