Latest Update: Tuesday, 16 November 2021

On Monday 15 November 2021, Council had to make the decision to close the Woodville library and i-SITE and the Pahiatua Service Centre and library.

We can now happily advise that we will be reopening these sites tomorrow (Wednesday, 17 November) for business as usual.

With Covid now a reality in the Tararua District, it’s a good time for us to refresh our understanding of the different types of ‘Covid Contacts’ and in the future, what we need to do if we think we have been in contact with a Covid case. We recommend reviewing this link for further information: https://covid19.govt.nz/.../contacts-of-someone-who-has.../

Past Updates:

Monday, 15 November 2021

Council offices and libraries in Pahiatua and Woodville will remain closed today but are likely to re-open on Wednesday.

The decision to close these offices has been made because Council is facing staffing challenges after a number of council staff went for Covid-19 tests and are now self-isolating at home as they await the results.

Council’s Executive Leadership Team will meet this morning to confirm whether offices will re-open, by then the majority of test results should have been received. In the meantime, offices and libraries in Dannevirke and Eketāhuna remain open.

Remember to keep in touch with your neighbours, friends and whanau who don’t have access to the internet and please continue to follow the advice from Ministry of Health.

Closed offices:
  • Woodville i-SITE, Library and Service Centre (45 Vogel Street)
  • Pahiatua Service Centre (136 Main Street)
  • Pahiatua Library (167 Main Street)

Council closing offices and libraries in Pahiatua and Woodville until further notice

Earlier today, Ministry of Health announced that two cases have been reported overnight in the Tararua District (covered by the MidCentral District Health Board). Both cases reported feeling unwell on Friday 12 November, sought prompt testing and are now self-isolating at home.

Until further notice, the following Council service centres and libraries are closed:

  • Woodville i-SITE, Library and Service Centre (42 Vogel Street)
  • Pahiatua Service Centre (136 Main Street)
  • Pahiatua Library (167 Main Street)

A meeting of the Council’s Executive Leadership Team will take place in the morning to decide whether to extend the closures to other council offices and an update will be provided tomorrow afternoon. Until then, service centres and libraries in Dannevirke and Eketāhuna remain open.

A number of council staff will be working from home and this is likely to impact some council services. We ask for your patience during this time and we will provide another update tomorrow afternoon.

And finally - if any of your friends, neighbours or whanau are not likely to be aware of the latest update from Ministry of Health, we encourage you to give them a text or a call to let them know.
