The Tararua District is experiencing increasing population and growth at a rate not seen in decades, justifying the need for a full time Land Development Engineer. This role plays a critical role in ensuring land and housing development across the district is in line with local and national standards and achieving the right outcomes for our customers and our environment.

As the Land Development Engineer, you will apply your technical skills and experience to engineering aspects of all Building and Resource consents and asset approvals processed by Council and see the developments through to construction and completion.

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in civil or environmental engineering and preferably have 3 years of relevant engineering experience. You have an understanding of the Resource Management Act, District/Regional Plans, NZS4404:2010, Building Act and Local Government Act. You’ll also have experience in project management and/or design of subdivision and land development activities.

As you’ll be joining a collaborative team environment, you’ll be a strong communicator. This role will require you to travel around the district using Council vehicles, so you’ll also hold a valid New Zealand driver’s license.
