We are looking for a Procurement Specialist who will provide leadership to help us lift the procurement and supply chain leadership maturity. Critical to this role will be to build effective relationships with suppliers, agencies and other stakeholders to deliver the best public value and procurement outcomes for Council, and at the same time ensuring standards of probity, integrity and independence are maintained.

This role provides a great opportunity to learn and grow your skills over a broad range of procurement related skills from developing strategic approaches to procurement, application of different delivery and contracting models and relationship management.

A large part of this role will be working collaboratively across the organisation and supporting managers and their teams on procurement issues, challenges, and strategies.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following attributes: -

  • Strong commercial acumen and using good understanding of how business and commercial relationships work to make good decisions and recommendations
  • Experience within a commercial or procurement environment
  • Ability to produce precise work, with care for accurate detail, to tight deadlines and known for being dependable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships and positively influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive with ongoing training and personal development and strives to continuously improve and learn

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and is based in Dannevirke.
