We are currently seeking a Team Leader Building Services to join Tararua District Council’s Building Department.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a Team Leader Building Services to join Tararua District Council’s Building Department.

You will be Council’s lead on professional advice on all aspects of Building Control and Services, ensure that building work throughout the district is carried out in a safe and satisfactory manner and complies with the Building code and ensure that all buildings within the district are safe and healthy to use.

Reporting to the Regulatory Services Manager, this role requires a passion for leadership, building control services, and for supporting Council to successfully meet commitments to our community.

The following skills and work experience are essential:

  • Proven experience in the building or design or a related industry with a relevant Reg 18 qualification (or equivalent) from the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification or trade certificate with five years practical experience
  • Technical knowledge of construction practices and principles.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and manage an operational team of professionals
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to customer service
  • Driver’s licence and computer literacy
