My principal place of residence is in the Tararua District Council area. I am also standing for South Tararua Ward.

I'm Evan Nattrass, owner of Woodville's The Viking's Haul and like many in the Tararua, proud of my Scandinavian heritage.

Our ancestors were seafarers. Water was essential to their way of life. Ours, too, but we are in grave danger of losing control of our water. If that happens, water privatisation will not be far away. Water is a precious resource. We must keep our water. We need leadership that will stand up to central government and say no when that is what local people want. To that end we must strengthen the democratic process in between elections. Community boards & committees need enhancing and annual plan processes need to seek greater community input.

With growing risk of natural disasters, we also need to work at increasing the resilience of our communities.
