The Tararua Alliance, a collaborative partnership between Tararua District Council and Downer, is seeking a skilled and motivated Asset Engineer. As the Asset Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the planning, maintenance, renewal, and optimisation of infrastructure assets across the Tararua District. Working closely with contract teams and client representatives, you will ensure that asset management practices align with Tararua Alliance standards and deliver long-term value for the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical investigations, produce tactical asset management plans, and apply your expertise in data analysis, failure mode investigation, and treatment selection to ensure resilient, cost-effective infrastructure outcomes.
- Develop forward works plans and support long-term asset renewals and maintenance strategies.
- Develop and refine asset management systems and processes in collaboration with the Downer National Asset management Team and Tararua District Council (TDC) asset management policy
- Ensure effective asset information management, data quality, and system use (e.g., AWM/RAMM)
- Collaborate with the delivery teams to develop effective annual and rolling maintenance programs.
- Oversee data analysis and modelling to assess current and future asset conditions.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
You will have proven industry experience and knowledge in infrastructure asset management along with:
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in asset management, civil infrastructure, or local government environments.
- Experience managing supplier/service provider relationships and stakeholder engagement
- Experience using RAMM/AWM would be advantageous
- Effective written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical issues in a clear and rigorous manner that influences others
- Strong analytical skills and experience using asset modelling, condition rating, and data-based planning.
