Mayors Taskforce For Jobs

The Mayors Taskforce For Jobs (MTFJ) is a nationwide network of New Zealand’s Mayors, working together towards the vision of all young people under 25 being engaged in appropriate education, training, work or other positive activity in their communities.

Our Mayor Tracey Collis and MTFJ Coordinator are thrilled to be able to accelerate another community recovery programme. As a member of the Tararua Employment Collaboration Group consisting of key stakeholders delivering employment solution in Tararua, we can achieve desired outcomes for employers while supporting youth or individuals displaced by COVID-19 into sustainable employment.

MTFJ is able to provide flexible funding that ensures our approach is individualised for each employer and young person, helping break down the barriers often faced when entering the workforce.

Since starting in mid 2020, the programme has supported 155 young people into employment across 125 local businesses. This year 82 young people were helped into jobs.
