Projects

Council’s Annual Plan and Long Term Plan set out a number of projects that the Council plans to work on. Projects are the one-off, usually large, pieces of work that Council undertakes in addition to the day-to-day work on providing services.

Current Key Projects

Solid Waste Review and TrialCouncil is undertaking a full solid waste review and trial to understand improvements to its service which will help Council meet its Waste Management and Minimisation targets.

Pahiatua Town Centre UpgradeCreating a safer, more accessible, attractive and vibrant street environment while future-proofing Pahiatua’s Main Street for growth, development and investment.

Pahiatua Water Treatment PlantThis project aims to deliver quality water to the Pahiatua community and visitors that meets NZ Drinking Water Standards and that manages the aesthetics of water for taste, odour and discolouration.

Huarahi Tūhono - Weber to WimbledonTararua District Council has been granted funding to deliver a project to upgrade sections 44 & 63 of Route 52 between Weber, Tararua District, and the boundary of Central Hawke’s Bay.

Pahiatua Service Centre - Earthquake StrengtheningThis project aims to improve the earthquake rating of the Council building in Pahiatua and to ensure a safe environment for staff and the public.

Dannevirke Service Centre - Earthquake StrengtheningThis project aims to improve the earthquake rating of this Council-owned building at 26 Gordon Street, and to ensure a safe environment for staff and public.

Roadside Tree RemovalCouncil was awarded $500,000 to remove dangerous roadside trees along Route 52.
