Ākitio Water Supply

The Ākitio water supply covers the settlement of Ākitio.

Water is taken from a spring situated within farmland. The intake is sourced from three springs capturing water at ground level in concrete chambers. From the concrete liner a 50mm diameter pipework conveys raw water by gravity to settling tanks at the water treatment plant. Water is treated at the water treatment plant behind the settlement.

The treatment for water at this site includes softening, hypochlorite dosing, aqualite filtration, followed by UV disinfection and chlorination.
