Pump Solution

The pump solution project has now been completed as part of the wider Dannevirke Impounded Water Supply upgrades.

Due to the original design of the impounded supply, the lower six metres of stored water could not previously be accessed without pumping. A temporary pump had been used on site to allow this water to be drawn and treated when needed.

This project has delivered a permanent pump solution, including large submersible pumps designed to access the remaining stored water more effectively. The upgrade improves the resilience of the water supply by enabling more of the impounded water to be treated and used by the town, particularly during periods of low river flow or higher demand.

The completed works form part of the wider programme of improvements underway at the water treatment plant, alongside pre-treatment upgrades, a new treated water reservoir, and improvements to the alternate water source.
