The Tararua District has around 500 bridges and to ensure they continue to be structurally sound, Tararua Alliance carries out an annual bridge inspection programme. This summer, over 60 bridges will be inspected between 1 December and mid-February. This involves structural engineers checking each bridge for signs of damage or decline, and any repairs needed are put into the bridge maintenance programme. While the bridge inspection unit is on each bridge, there may be delays of up to 20 minutes. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
