30 October 2026
Tararua District Council adopted its 2025/26 Annual Report on Wednesday 28 October, providing a look back at the Council’s work, achievements and financial performance over the past financial year.
The Annual Report has undergone an independent audit in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act 2002, providing assurance over the financial statements and other information presented in the report.
The Annual Report outlines what Council delivered during the year against the priorities set out in its Long Term Plan, as well as providing information about Council’s financial position and performance.
Mayor Scott Gilmore said the report was an important opportunity to reflect on the work completed across the district and the progress made on key projects.
“Every year there is a huge amount of work happening across our district, much of it behind the scenes. The Annual Report gives our community a chance to see where we have made progress, what we have delivered and how we have used ratepayer funding,” he said.
“2025/26 has been another busy year for Tararua, with significant work across our water networks, roading, community facilities, emergency management and other essential services.”
The report also highlights the challenges Council has faced, including the ongoing work required to maintain and renew ageing infrastructure while balancing affordability for ratepayers.
Chief Executive Corin Haines said the Annual Report provided an important measure of Council’s performance and accountability to the community.
“The Annual Report is more than a financial document. It tells the story of what Council has been working on throughout the year and how that work contributes to the wellbeing and resilience of our communities,” he said.
