Free tyre recycling now available at our transfer stations

31 August 2026

Thanks to the Tyrewise return scheme, you can now drop off up to 5 tyres for free at any of our transfer stations.

The tyres should be free of dirt, debris and excess water and must be removed from the rims.

This service applies to tyres manufactured on or after 1 March 2024.

Don't know when you bought them?

You don't need the receipt. You can find the date of manufacture on the tyres DOT code. You'll find it on the tyre sidewall - look for the word "DOT" and follow to the end where there are 4 digits. The first two digits tell you the week of the year it was made and the last two digits tell you the year it was made - see the image to the right to learn more.

Older tyres can still be dropped off for disposal at just $10 each.

So when your tyres have reached the end of the road, bring them to us and we'll keep them out of landfill and give them a new life as recycled products.

DOT code - tyre

Image: A tyre DOT code of 1724 (inside the red circle) indicates the tyre was made in the 17th week of 2024 which would date it to 22 - 28 April 2024 making it eligible for free drop-off in the Tyrewise return scheme.
