Woodville water restriction raised

10 January 2024

The Woodville water restriction  has moved from No Restrictions to Level 1 (alternate evenings).

Council regularly reviews the districts water restrictions. During the summer months this is done on a weekly basis.  As a result of this week’s review we are placing a level 1 water restriction (alternate evenings) on Woodville effective immediately.

No increase to restrictions are being placed on other towns in the district at this stage because demand is stable and there are no extraction restrictions from source rivers.

Council would like to thank residents across the district for conserving water, however, please continue to use water wisely as this situation could change very quickly.

Woodville has been raised to Level 1 alternate evenings due to low river flows which has restricted the amount of water we can abstract from the Mangapapa Stream.  In addition, the long range weather forecast does not predict any significant rainfall in the immediate future.

This level 1 restriction means that sprinkler use is restricted to evenings only, every two days.  Unattended hoses, sprinklers, and garden irrigation systems can only be used between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm; for even numbered houses on even dates, and odd numbered houses on odd dates. Handheld hoses can be used at any time.
