Wastewater manhole repairs starting in Eketāhuna
13 October 2026
Rehabilitation repairs to 15 wastewater manholes in Eketāhuna will begin on Monday 19 October, with work expected to take several weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Tararua Alliance will carry out repairs to wastewater manhole chambers throughout Eketāhuna township to reduce unwanted water entering the existing wastewater network.
The work will involve sealing joints and cracks with epoxy, repairing the internal benching of manhole chambers and replacing some manhole lids.
The repairs can only be completed during dry conditions, so the timeframe will depend on the weather.
Traffic management
As most of the manholes are located within the road corridor, temporary traffic management will be required in some areas while work is underway. This may include Stop/Go controls, lane shifts or shoulder closures.
Road users are asked to take care around work sites, follow any temporary traffic management instructions and allow extra time for their journeys where needed.
Further work later this year
Two manhole chambers located beside State Highway 2 are scheduled for complete replacement later in the year, when weather and ground conditions improve.
All areas affected by the works will be reinstated following completion.
We thank the Eketāhuna community and road users for their patience while these repairs are carried out.
