The 10th ShakeOut is happening

Published 07 Oct 2022

The 10th ShakeOut is happening nationwide at 9:30am, Tuesday, 27 October 2022

ShakeOut takes place across the world in earthquake prone nations to remind people of the correct action to take during an earthquake.  Drop, Cover and Hold.

It is also an opportunity to practice a Tsunami hikoi (evacuation walk) if you are in a coastal area.

In New Zealand we have over 530,000 people registered to participate this year.  This year also happens to be the 10th anniversary of the event, it’s taking place in workplaces, schools and homes across our nation.

If you register with Get Ready  they will send you information and put you in a draw to win a prize pack.  You can register here.

There is also a neat 2022 ShakeOut Kids Challenge with 16 prize packs up for grabs – find out more here.

Tararua District Council are hopeful that many people in the district will take the time to participate in ShakeOut 2022 and teach our children the importance of these life-saving actions.
