Creatives in schools programme – apply now for 2024 projects

The Creatives in Schools programme is an opportunity for schools to work with creative professionals to deliver inspiring learning experiences for ākonga and students. It provides funding of up to $17,000 per project.


The programme is delivered by Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education in partnership with Te Manatū Taonga | Ministry for Culture and Heritage and Creative New Zealand.


Schools, kura, and creative(s) work together to plan a project and then submit a joint application. If your application is successful, schools and kura will work with the creative to deliver the creative experience for students and ākonga. The project must run for between 8 and 20 weeks.


The Creatives in Schools learning experiences enhance students’ wellbeing; improves their core competencies in communication, collaboration, and creative thinking; and inspires their awareness of careers in the arts and creative sectors.
Creatives in Schools supports Years 1–13, including students with learning support needs and from a refugee background.
