Anzac Day Services in the Tararua District

Members of the public are cordially invited to attend the following commemorative services throughout the
Tararua District on Anzac Day, Tuesday, 25 April 2023.

Dannevirke

A Dawn Service will be held at the Dannevirke Cenotaph at the Upper Domain following the form up at 5:45am.

A Civic Service will be held at the Dannevirke Cenotaph at the Upper Domain following the form up at 8:30am. The parade leaves the playground and marches to the Cenotaph for the laying of the wreaths.

Both services will be held at the Cenotaph even if it is raining.

Weber

A service will be held at the Cenotaph (by the Weber School) at 10:15am.

Pongaroa

A service at the Cenotaph in Pongaroa will commence at 12:00 noon.

Those wishing to join RSA members in the march to the Cenotaph are requested to assemble at the Pongaroa Hotel by 11:45am.

Wimbledon

A service at the WWII Memorial in Wimbledon will commence at 9:00am.

Norsewood

Form up will commence at the Boer War Memorial at 10:25am. This will then be followed by a parade to Civic Service at the Cenotaph at 10:30am.

Ormondville

A service at the Church of the Epiphany, Newton Street, will commence at 12:15pm.

Whetukura

A service at the Whetukura Cenotaph will commence at 1:oopm.

Eketāhuna

A service will be conducted in the Eketāhuna Community Hall commencing at 10:00am, followed by a service at the Eketāhuna Memorial Hall at 1050am.

Returned Servicemen and Servicewomen and members of other organisations participating in the commemoration are requested to assemble at the Community Hall at 09:45am.

10 Transport Company will be in attendance throughout the commemoration.

On completion of the Service there will be light refreshments provided at the Eketāhuna Club.

Kaiparoro

A service will be held at the ANZAC Memorial Bridge on SH2 commencing at 2:00pm.

Parking is at Miller Reserve – there is a walkway to the bridge.

An afternoon tea will be held following the service at Pūkaha Mount Bruce Wildlife Centre ($5.00 per person).

This year, we acknowledge of the contribution and service of Nurses in the Defence Force, and we remember Private Margaret McAnulty who was killed in WW2 and who is memorialised on the bridge.

Hamua

A service at the Hamua Hall on SH2 will commence at 9:00am. Morning tea will be served at the conclusion of the service.

Makotuku

A service at the Centotaph will commence at 1:45pm outside the Makotuku Public Hall.

Pahiatua

A Dawn Service will be held at the Cenotaph at the Pahiatua Town Square, commencing at 6:00am.

Those wishing to join RSA members in the march to the Cenotaph, including wreath bearers, are requested to assemble at the Tararua Club, on Tararua Street by 5:30am.

Return to the Tararua Club for refreshments approx. 06:45.

A service will also be held, later at 8:00am at the servicemen section of the Mangatainoka Cemetery. Breakfast will then be served afterwards at the Tararua Club, first to NZDF, RSA members and service personnel. Then everyone else.

We are pleased to have NZDF support from Queen Alexandra’s Mounted Rifles Support Squadron.

Woodville

A Dawn Service will be held in Fountaine Square, form up time is 05:45am. Breakfast will be available afterwards at Café 88 in Vogel Street for $15 with some proceeds going to the Woodville and District RSA.

The Civic Service will form up at 09:45am in Fountaine Square. After the service, tea and coffee will be provide at the Woodville Sports Stadium, 64 Ross Street Woodville.
