Connecting local employers and local talent

The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) recently sponsored the placement of 4 Career Kiosks, which have been placed at Tararua College, Dannevirke High School, Totara College and the Woodville library.

As a follow up to this, MTFJ will now provide students and schools with the opportunity to create compelling documentary clips promoting local employers. Students will be encouraged to engage local employers of interest, get behind the camera, interview the employers and staff, and edit footage to showcase career opportunities with local businesses. The short films will be uploaded into the Inzone Careers Kiosks offering employers the opportunity to promote their business, not only locally but nationally as well.

According to Fontayne Chase, MTFJ Coordinator; “The documentary clips give an honest depiction of life studying or working with local employers. The idea behind creating local content for the Careers Kiosks is to enhance connections between our local schools and local employers and to enable rangatahi to explore work environments and career opportunities available to them locally.”
Inzone’s high-tech Careers Kiosks provide New Zealand schools with up-to-date career information and a fantastic multi-media view of careers as well as study and training opportunities for a wide range of industries.

According to Tararua District Council Mayor Tracey Collis: “MTFJ coordinators nationally are lining up to have the Inzone Careers Kiosks installed at locations within their districts. This is a great opportunity for rangatahi to explore their creative talent while connecting with future employers. It also supports local businesses to promote employment opportunities to our local talent, and individuals who access an Inzone Careers Kiosk located around the country.”

The video content of each employer that participates will be up to 3 minutes in length. Schools will be supported to either create this content on their own or they will be assisted by our MTFJ and DigitalSpaces team. Digital content that is created will require final approval from employers/company directors before being shared on the kiosks. If you are a local employer with your own video clip suitable for the Careers Kiosk that you are happy to share, please email: mtfj@tararuadc.govt.nz.
