Waka Kotahi / NZTA roadworks along High Street Dannevirke coming soon

Waka Kotahi/NZTA have advised that the scheduled works on SH2 Dannevirke High Street will start a few days later than previously communicated. The revised dates for the NIGHTIME ROAD CLOSURES are each night from Tuesday 24 January to Tuesday 14 February from 7pm-6am.
The maintenance of State Highways that run through our district are the responsibility of Waka Kotahi/NZTA. Anticipated completion is 14 February 2023. While the resurfacing is underway, SH2 will be closed between Rawhiti Street and Swinburn Street with a detour in place:
- Northbound traffic will detour via Rawhiti Street, Queen Street, Allan Street, Guy Street and Ruahine Street.
- Southbound traffic will detour via Swinburn Street, Waterloo Street, Miller Street and Denmark Street.
- Footpaths on SH2 High Street in Dannevirke will remain open for pedestrian access to businesses during the road closures, and people will be able to park on side streets.
Access to local properties will be available throughout these works if needed. The works will be managed by Higgins Contractors Ltd.
Upcoming works are weather dependent and may be postponed at short notice.
