Eketāhuna - Precautionary Boil Water Notice Lifted

Tararua District Council would like to advise that the precautionary boil water notice for Eketāhuna water supplies has been lifted as of today, 23 December 2021 – 4pm.

The Eketāhuna Precautionary Boil Water notice was issued on 8 December due to heavy rain resulting in turbid (dirty) source water.

Turbidity levels at the Eketāhuna water treatment plant have now reduced to levels compliant with the NZ Drinking Water Standards. Daily sampling and testing of water has not detected any e.coli within the water supply network.

Council would like to extend a sincere thank you to all residents in Eketāhuna for your cooperation and patience while this issue was resolved. Council would also like to thank the Taumata Arowai for their support and advice during this time.

Council is currently upgrading the water treatment plant which will reduce the risk of reoccurrence in the future. This project is planned to be completed in April.
